At home, Centralina Regional Council is taking a proactive approach to advocating for our region and supporting local governments in their own advocacy efforts. In a recent Centralina Learns, we invited our consultants to share tips for productive federal and state advocacy and engagement with local government staff. Leslie Mozingo, on behalf of Strategics, provided detailed guidance for how to best engage elected officials at the federal level, including how much time to plan for, what to bring and who to have at the table. Chris Wall, state relations consultant at EQV Strategic, emphasized the importance of personal relationships with state representatives and shared advice for how to make the most out of those connections.
In an effort to make state activity as transparent as possible to our local stakeholders, Centralina engaged Upstate, a legislative tracking system designed specifically for the North Carolina General Assembly. With this tool, Centralina members can review and track bills that align to Centralina’s state advocacy priorities for 2025. Centralina will be using Upstate as part of its Raleigh Relations strategy.
