Centralina’s Integrated Mobility Center is taking bold steps to transform how residents move throughout our region with the introduction of mobility hubs. But what exactly is a mobility hub, and why should your community consider applying for funds to have your own?
A mobility hub is a central location that connects multiple types of transportation options in one convenient place. Whether it’s buses, bike-sharing, ride-hailing or other transit services, mobility hubs make it easier for people to get where they need to go seamlessly and efficiently. These hubs are designed to reduce reliance on single-occupancy vehicles, improve access to jobs and services and create a more connected, accessible region for everyone.
As part of the CONNECT Beyond regional mobility plan, mobility hubs are a key strategy for improving mobility and supporting economic growth across our communities. To help bring this vision to life, Centralina is creating a Regional Mobility Hub Implementation Strategy Playbook. This resource will guide local governments through the planning and implementation process, providing step-by-step strategies and best practices.
In an exciting next step, Centralina is offering funding for four pilot projects to jumpstart mobility hub development in the region. Communities within the nine-county Centralina region are invited to submit potential locations for consideration. If selected, your community will receive expert support from a consultant to develop a tailored plan for your hub, including site selection, conceptual design and an implementation roadmap.
Don’t miss this opportunity to shape the future of transportation in your community. Applications for the pilot projects are now open and must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31.
