Norwood Receives $1.6M Revitalization Grant

The Town of Norwood has received a $1.6+ million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Neighborhood Revitalization award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

This grant was prepared through a partnership with Centralina Economic Development and will be put toward the renovation of 15 homes, predominately owned by low-income older adults. Originally, Norwood’s application was for $950,000, but the town was notified of additional funding availability by Centralina Community Economic Development Administrator, James Luster.

Providing Value to Centralina Members

Norwood’s Town Administrator, Ray Allen, had this to say about the partnership:

“Thank you for the successful CDBG Neighborhood Revitalization grant that James prepared on behalf of the Town.  We were notified last week that we had been awarded $1,672,762 which will renovate approximately 15 homes for low income predominately elderly homeowners. Our Mayor and Board are very excited about receiving this grant. The original application was for $950,000 but James was notified by NCDOC that additional funding was available, so he worked quickly to amend the application to apply for an additional $722,762 in funding. This is an excellent example of how Centralina provides value to its members.”
