The City of Locust has chosen Centralina Regional Council to help update its current land use plan. Our team recently worked on Stanly County’s land use plan, a process in which the City of Locust participated. Through this process, the city witnessed firsthand our grasp of key planning issues and challenges and decided to engage Centralina in several areas where additional capacity and knowledge were needed.
Centralina’s Regional Planning team consists of experts with diverse local government planning experience, ranging from leadership to administration in communities of all sizes. Paired with our understanding of regional issues, local area knowledge and commitment to designing effective and intentional engagement, Centralina is well-equipped to reveal key community interests and opportunities for optimal growth well into the future.
Centralina is revising the City of Locust’s land use plan to provide a roadmap that will serve the city and its residents for the next 20 years. On April 12, 2025, our staff attended an event hosted by the City of Locust to form a connection with community stakeholders and develop an understanding of the community’s needs. By taking advantage of an existing community event, we were able to meet more residents and have a casual conversation about their priorities. This sort of approach can often reduce costs for local governments and gives Centralina’s team access to local perspectives that may not be well-represented in a formal community meeting.
