Artificial intelligence (AI) has taken the world by storm in recent years and new tools have the potential to reshape the way we work and collaborate. According to the American Planning Association, âif deployed responsibly, AI has the potential to assist planners in their work, improve existing planning processes, create efficiencies, and allow planners to refocus their work on the human factors of planning.â However, it is critical for planners and local government staff to understand both the benefits and potential risks associated with AI to ensure new technologies are used positively and ethically.
This virtual session explores the various types of AI available to professionals, considers the practical and ethical implications of AI on our profession and facilitates an engaging discussion about the future of AI in planning.
