Centralina Regional Council seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong engagement and communication skills for the position of CENTRALINA BOARDS ADMINISTRATOR.  The individual in this role will serve as the administrator for Centralina records, Centralina Regional Council Board, the Centralina Economic Development District Board and the Centralina Foundation Board.  The individual will also provide special assistance to the Executive Director on special projects related to government affairs and member engagement.

Description of the Work:

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing administrative support for the Centralina Regional Council Board (10 meetings per year), the Centralina Economic Development District Board (4 meetings per year) the Centralina Foundation Board (2 meetings per year) and Board subcommittees,  including but not limited to: agenda scheduling; plan, gather materials for, prepare, and circulate meeting agenda packets; prepare and disseminate meeting minutes; maintain Board records and documentation; develop preparatory materials for Board chairs.
  • Coordinating communications with Board members and managers or clerks of local governments related to Board appointments, attendance, meeting scheduling, special event coordination, dues correspondence and other items as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Coordinating public information dissemination regarding Centralina Board activities, including webpage management (document and event postings), live streaming of meetings, responding to public inquiries and other activities in coordination with the Marketing & Communications Manager.
  • Managing internal and external signature routing for Centralina contracts and agreements.
  • Organizing and maintaining records of all Centralina master agreements, contracts, regional agreements and other organization documentation according to internal processes and State regulations.
  • Providing special assistance to the Executive Director on special projects related to government affairs and member engagement; specific nature of the projects and assignments based on the individual’s interests, capacities and Centralina workplan.  Project may include research, writing, meeting planning and supporting Executive Director’s activities in the National Association of Regional Councils and NC Association of NC Councils of Government.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge of North Carolina State law regarding open public meetings and hearings, including noticing requirements.
  • Knowledge of general practices and procedures of public meetings and/or non-profit board meetings (i.e. Roberts Rules of Order).
  • Requires a high level of discretion and independent judgement and often requires the use and handling of confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 platform applications required.  Knowledge of WordPress desired.
  • Must possess the ability to multitask and manage multiple and simultaneous priorities while managing time and resources in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local, state and federal officials and the general public.

Minimum Experience at a Glance:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Accounting or other closely related field is required with and 3 to 5 years’ experience in meeting planning and coordination, including prior experience supporting boards and executive management. Notary Public and Certified Clerk (municipal, county or state) desired but not required. Salary is depending on qualifications, education and experience.

Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to physically perform the basic life operation functions of standing, walking, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions, the ability to lift 10 pounds of force occasionally and possess the visual acuity to prepare data, proof work, and do extensive reading.
