Centralina is Hiring: Aging Program Coordinator

Who We Seek:
Centralina Regional Council seeks a well-organized, customer service-oriented individual with a strong human services background for the position of AGING PROGRAM COORDINATOR to join the Centralina Area Agency on Aging department in their work to identify needs and deliver critical services to support older and disabled adults within the region. Work will involve serving as a contact for local governments, service providers, and consumers for assigned program areas as well as assisting in designing reports, communication plans, and trainings to help the agency serve the elderly population.

Description of the work:
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Assisting the agency in implementing programs and services to serve the elderly population in a nine-county region
  • Providing technical assistance and serving as a primary contact and resource to local governments, community service providers, consumers and others for assigned program areas
  • Designing and implementing monitoring processes to audit program funding
  • Designing and preparing related reports and presentations
  • Developing communication plans, as needed
  • Designing and delivering training to increase awareness of assigned programs and initiatives

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations as they relate to aging programs that help meet the needs of the older population
  • Knowledge of the physical and mental health, nutritional, economic, social, housing, and recreational needs of older adults
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of client information as required by State and Federal laws and regulations and professional practice standards.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with variety of people, including staff, vendors, general public, program participants, etc. 
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and detailed records
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple and simultaneous priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills

Minimum Experience at a Glance:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, or related field and 3 to 5 years’ experience in project/program development, grants accounting and compliance, specifically in the Health and Human Services field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience and training. The salary range for this position is $47,570 – $73,258.

Applicant must have the ability to lift 10 pounds of force occasionally and possess the visual acuity to prepare data, proof work, and do extensive reading.
