The perception that innovation costs money or requires technology often deters local governments from pursuing new practices. Sometimes innovation is merely using a new or creative method. That’s exactly what the City of Charlotte sought to accomplish with the Placemaking Grant Program. It puts innovation in the hands of the community.
Lawmakers in both Washington, DC and Raleigh are back to work after the holiday break. The General Assembly started its long session on January 13th, when it decides the two-year state budget and key priorities, which are expected to include COVID relief, healthcare, broadband and transportation. Centralina has launched a new effort called Raleigh Relations to monitor legislation and strengthen relationships with the elected officials representing our region.
Centralina Regional Council is seeking to partner with qualified individuals who can support the organization on a range of technical assistance projects. Centralina contracts with local governments in our nine-county region to provide services in a range of areas. We are seeking to build a bench of freelance consultants who can play a role in delivering services as part of our project teams. We are looking for individuals, not companies, who would be “on-call” to support the organization when contracting opportunities arise.
CONNECT Beyond, our region’s first transit vision and implementation plan, has continued to ramp up since kicking off in February of this year.
